What’s Missing From All Your Blogging Efforts?

Have you ever wondered why no one spends time reading your blog?

Step UP 3D

Step UP 3D from the street

There are a couple different reasons for that. You may have a boring blog design. You may have too many ads. You may have an annoying email opt-in pop up that scares away your readers.

But What if you have a great blog design? What if you don’t have annoying ads and pop ups? And yet you still don’t have readers spending time on your blog.

Then it may be time to step up your game when it comes to your blog content.

You see, even if you have a great blog framework or theme like Genesis or Thesis, people won’t stick around unless they enjoy reading your blog posts.

But you don’t have to be an expert at writing to be able to publish good content. Here are some ways for you to grab hold of your readers and make them enjoy their stay on your blog.

1. Tell Stories:

Stories are a great way of keeping your readers engaged. You can add fiction, success stories and personal experiences to add spice to your blog post and to keep it from coming off as boring.

Sometimes, blogging can get boring, especially if you’re not getting results. Think about your readers.

They might be bored out of their minds too, but when they reach your blog and read a wonderful story that is followed up by meaningful content, it’s surely going to brighten up their day. Some might even be inspired.

If your readers are loving your content, they’ll definitely want to read more. This is where your email opt-in should come in.

2. Learn How-To do content marketing:

“Content Marketing means creating and freely sharing informative content as a means of converting prospects into customers and customers into repeat buyers.” – CoppyBlogger

If you can learn how to do content marketing on your blog posts, you can invite and convince your readers to trust you so they will stay a bit longer, subscribe or buy your services.

This is done by properly formatting your posts and working on them until they deliver great value to your readers without sounding too much like you’re selling something.

Simply put, content marketing is writing so that your readers will want to read more, turning them into loyal readers and subscribers.

This could range from conversational blog posts ending in a strong question that would get your readers to start talking in the comments section.

3. Provide Value:

If you want your readers to stick around blog, you would have to provide value to the content that you publish.

How do you provide value? That’s going to be a whole different article, but here are the basics of providing value to your readers:

  • Research your topics, and publish only relevant content on your blog.
  • Proofread your draft posts multiple times to check for mistakes on spelling or grammar.
  • Publish unique content, and not “spun” articles.
  • Provide links to relevant content to give credibility to what you’re telling your readers.
  • Make your post about what your readers can benefit from, not what you can benefit from.
  • Build a community with the people who visit and comment on your posts.
  • Strive to fix a problem with your blog posts.

Again, these are just the basics. There are hundreds if not thousands more ways for you to provide value to your readers.

4. Determine your Mission:

Find our the reason why you’re blogging in the first place. What’s your blog’s mission. What are your personal goals for your blog?

Do you want to teach people how to blog? Do you want to sell a piece of software?

Once you have determined what your blog’s mission is, you can hone down on the people who you want to read your content.

Wait, hone down? You might be asking why you should do such a thing. Why wouldn’t you want everyone to read your blog?

The answer is simple. Not everyone is interested in your niche. So don’t waste time writing for a wide array of niches, but only write for the specific people who you want to target. If you want to blog about blogging, then you only want people who have blogs read your content.

People who don’t run blogs will never be interested in something like “10 Smart Tips to Blogging Your Way to a Six-Figure Income”. And if you publish something that is not related to your niche, the people who are already reading your blog might turn aways and unsubscribe. I’m sure you don’t want.

Find out your mission.

The “Secret” to successful blogging:

The “secret” is that there’s no secret, but hard work, determination and “never-say-die” mentality.

Because there’s no “magic bullet”.

No secret formula.

But if you have a good command on content marketing, you can keep your readers engaged, interested and wanting more and more from you. That’s something that every blogger should learn to do.

And with good content marketing coupled with great web design and SEO, You’ll be on your way to Master-Class blogging.

Well, What do you think?
Do you agree that every blogger needs to learn content marketing? Do you have anything to add to the tips given above? Let’s talk about it in the comments section below.

Glad my words could be of some help. We just have to remember to always have a “Never say die” mentality, and just keep on going for it. Working hard, learning a lot from past mistakes and trying to provide as much value to our readers as we possibly can.

Have a great week ahead of you!
